Columns
Columns define how Data Agent interprets, transforms, or enriches data from uploaded documents and external sources.
There are two types of columns — each with distinct capabilities depending on the level of reasoning or research required.
Simple Columns
Use these for direct, no-logic extraction from the uploaded document.
No reasoning, no web search, no AI transformation.
Best for pulling static values like names, emails, dates, IDs, or totals.
Example Prompt:
Extract applicant name, business name, and address from the uploaded document.
Complex Columns
Use these when your output requires reasoning, comparison, multi-field logic, or external research.
Backed by LLM instructions via prompt.
Can optionally be restricted to a specific website or domain.
Ideal for calculations, summaries, classifications, and data lookups.
Example Prompt:
Based on revenue, profit, and liabilities, calculate a Financial Health Score.
Summarize the key risk factors disclosed in the company’s latest SEC 10-K.
Extract number of employees from the company’s LinkedIn page. (with URL specified)
Best Practice Tip
Use Simple Columns to extract raw data.
Use Complex Columns when the value needs to be inferred, calculated, or fetched from elsewhere.
